PRINTING PROBLEMS AND PROCESS INSTABILITY
Any printing process carries variables that make its output unstable and unequal from job to job and from time to time. Process variations include:
- dot reproduction and dot gain (TVI)
- gray balance
- paper properties inside the same paper type
- ink properties even from the same supplier
- ambiant temperature and humidity
REQUIREMENTS OF QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE ON THE PRESS
Many printers have implemented or considered implementing quality control and assurance in their pressroom in line with their internal quality management system and practices. This implementation requires a continuous and day to day follow- up of process parameters especially the above indicated variables. This tedious and time consuming work also carries its share of possible uncertainties and errors especially when done manually.
