Shumani Mills Communications is a commercial print shop that approached Digital Distributors to help them increase automation, reduce costs and improve quality.
John Panton, Director at Digital Distributors said: “We recommended the implementation of InkZone Preset and Closed Loop colour control on Shumani’s four Heidelberg presses, together with Bodoni pressSIGN for data collection on the print production run. pressSIGN makes it easy to print to all the international printing standards and print shops can create their own print standards based on any CMYK ICC profile or a previously printed sheet.
“InkZone facilitates the optimum ink key presetting, thereby reducing waste. Spectral Scanning of press sheets is conducted during the run, with automatic ink key follow-up adjustment to keep production as stable and consistent as possible. All scanned sheets are recorded in the pressSIGN database, where extensive reporting of any print job can be extracted, to show compliance with any given standard or specific brand colour,” explained John.
Commented Nolan Trout, Quality Assurance Manager at Shumani: “InkZone has helped us getting to colour using less ink and tying up all loose ends before a job goes to print, which in turn goes a long way to help reduce wastage. Bodoni pressSIGN is a powerful tool for data analysis in order to make decision and improvements while measuring print quality.
“Digital Distributors has a solid track record and sound expertise in the industry and has proven its value with companies within our CTP Group. Since we’ve partnered with them, Digital Distributors has been providing us with excellent service all round. John and his team have always been available to share their knowledge, get stuck in and help to solve problems and continue to offer excellent support to Shumani in all areas,” concluded Nolan.
